App v client not updating
In early 2013 I was implementing an App-V 5 and App Sense Environment Manager solution for a healthcare customer in London.
I had used App Sense Environment Manager and App-V 4.x for many years, but had only implemented small to medium ( Given the choice, a VDI solution with a Shared Content Store (SCS) would be my preferred solution, but VDI wasn’t an option for this customer who wanted to stick with their existing desktop environment.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Soft Grid.5\Client \App FS\State 5 – In case user’s virtualized application portfolio is huge then Soft Grid client cache size needs to be increased . HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Soft Grid.5\Client\App FS\State ( Value=0 ) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Soft Grid.5\Client\App FS\File Size ( Value=4096* *Desired maximum cache size in KB ) Reboot the client PC for changes to take effect.
Once APPV client cache is cleared User can stream the applications from APPV server by publishing refresh.
Most importantly though, I submit this information with the request that anyone who reads it will give their thoughts as good members of the systems management community.
I also composed this because if you are getting ready for App-V in your environment, focus on the stability this technology gives applications and don’t focus so much on streaming (echoing a great blog article from Tim Mangan where he basically says what I am pointing out).
The version can not be detected because the properties of the App are not set.
A new command “Enable-App V” is added and based on the name we can assume this command can enable the App-V functionality within Windows. [Update]: It appears there is a difference between the x86 version of Power Shell and the x64 version.
